What Is the UK Partner (Spouse) Visa?

Live Together, Permanently, in the UK

The Partner visa sits under Appendix FM of the Immigration Rules. It lets a husband, wife, civil partner, or long-term unmarried partner join a British citizen, someone with settled status, or a person with refugee or humanitarian protection, and live together in the UK.

Unlike work or business visas, approval here turns on relationship evidence and finances rather than qualifications — which is exactly where applications most often go wrong, and exactly where our expertise makes the difference.

  • Settlement (ILR) possible after 5 years together
  • £29,000 minimum income — or savings instead
  • Full right to work or study from day one
  • Children under 18 can join at no extra income cost

What You Need — And How We Help

Every Partner visa requirement, with exactly how our team supports you on each one.

Genuine & Subsisting Relationship

Married, civil partnered, or living together as partners for 2+ years, with evidence of a real, ongoing relationship.

Our SupportWe build a structured relationship evidence portfolio the Home Office actually credits — not just a folder of photos.

Financial Requirement (£29,000)

The sponsor's income — or income combined with savings — must meet the threshold, evidenced exactly as the rules require.

Our SupportWe identify the strongest income category for your case and calculate the precise savings top-up if needed.

English Language (A1)

Proof of English at CEFR level A1 for your first application, rising at each later stage of the route.

Our SupportWe confirm your fastest route to A1 — test, degree exemption, or nationality exemption — before you book anything.

Accommodation

Suitable UK housing, without overcrowding, that you can occupy without relying on public funds.

Our SupportWe prepare compliant accommodation evidence, including landlord letters and space reports where needed.

Sponsor's Immigration Status

Your partner must be British, settled in the UK, or hold refugee or humanitarian protection status.

Our SupportWe verify your sponsor's status meets the rules before you spend a penny on the application.

Documentary Evidence

Every claim — income, relationship, housing — needs the specific evidence format the Immigration Rules demand.

Our SupportWe assemble and cross-check your full evidence bundle so nothing triggers an avoidable refusal.

Eligibility on the UK Side

Your partner must hold one of the following statuses in the UK before you can apply.

The Ozmark Method

From Application to Settlement

  1. 1

    Free Consultation

A private, no-obligation sitting to understand your relationship, your sponsor's position, and what the route will realistically cost you.

  2. 2

    Relationship & Eligibility Assessment

An honest read of your relationship, your sponsor's status and your finances against the Appendix FM tests — before a rupee is spent.

  3. 3

Before the initial visa expires, we prepare the extension, re-confirming relationship, finances and English at A2.

  5. 5

Settlement — ILR After 5 Years

With B1 English and the Life in the UK test behind you, we prepare your Indefinite Leave to Remain application to complete the route.

Before You Ask

Partner Visa Questions, Answered Plainly

Couple preparing their UK partner visa application
What counts as a "genuine and subsisting" relationship?

The Home Office wants to see an ongoing, committed relationship intended to be permanent — not just a marriage certificate. Evidence typically includes shared finances, cohabitation records, communication history, and visits, especially if you've spent time apart due to visa restrictions.

Do I need to earn £29,000 myself, or can we combine income?

The sponsor's income is what counts, though if the applicant is already in the UK lawfully with permission to work, their income can be added. The £29,000 figure applies regardless of whether children are included in the application.

Can savings replace the income requirement entirely?

Yes. If income falls short, savings above £16,000 can be converted at a set multiple to cover the gap, or sufficient savings alone can meet the full requirement. We calculate the exact figure your case needs.

What English level do I need, and does it change later?

You need CEFR level A1 for your first application, A2 for your extension after roughly 2.5 years, and B1 for settlement. Passing at a higher level early can let you reuse the same certificate at later stages.

What happens if we don't meet the financial requirement?

You may still have options — for example, if refusal would breach your right to family life under human rights law, or if a qualifying child would be seriously affected. These routes are more complex and are assessed case by case.
