The Partner (Spouse) visa lets couples and families live together permanently in the UK — built around a genuine relationship, a clear financial requirement, and a five-year path to settlement.
The Partner visa sits under Appendix FM of the Immigration Rules. It lets a husband, wife, civil partner, or long-term unmarried partner join a British citizen, someone with settled status, or a person with refugee or humanitarian protection, and live together in the UK.
Unlike work or business visas, approval here turns on relationship evidence and finances rather than qualifications — which is exactly where applications most often go wrong, and exactly where our expertise makes the difference.
Every Partner visa requirement, with exactly how our team supports you on each one.
Married, civil partnered, or living together as partners for 2+ years, with evidence of a real, ongoing relationship.
The sponsor's income — or income combined with savings — must meet the threshold, evidenced exactly as the rules require.
Proof of English at CEFR level A1 for your first application, rising at each later stage of the route.
Suitable UK housing, without overcrowding, that you can occupy without relying on public funds.
Your partner must be British, settled in the UK, or hold refugee or humanitarian protection status.
Every claim — income, relationship, housing — needs the specific evidence format the Immigration Rules demand.
Built around your relationship, not your CV — with real flexibility on how you meet the rules.
No restriction on employment or study once your visa is granted — work any job, at any level.
No sponsorship needed to workDependent children join under the same £29,000 threshold — there's no per-child income addition.
One threshold, whole familyShort of the income test? Cash savings, held for at least 6 months, can cover the requirement instead.
Income isn't the only wayReach Indefinite Leave to Remain after five years on the partner route, with citizenship open beyond that.
A clear, fixed timelineEnter the sponsor's gross annual income and any eligible savings held for 6+ months — we'll show you where you stand.
Illustrative only, based on the standard £29,000 / £16,000 + 2.5× savings formula. Not a substitute for a full eligibility assessment.
Your partner must hold one of the following statuses in the UK before you can apply.
Holds a British passport or has otherwise established British citizenship.
Holds Indefinite Leave to Remain or EU Settlement Scheme settled status.
Recognised as a refugee under the UK's asylum system.
Holds humanitarian protection status granted by the Home Office.
The Ozmark Method
A private, no-obligation sitting to understand your relationship, your sponsor's position, and what the route will realistically cost you.
An honest read of your relationship, your sponsor's status and your finances against the Appendix FM tests — before a rupee is spent.
Statements reconciled, gaps explained, and a relationship portfolio built for your circumstances rather than a template. The initial visa, if approved, is granted for 33 months.
Before the initial visa expires, we prepare the extension, re-confirming relationship, finances and English at A2.
With B1 English and the Life in the UK test behind you, we prepare your Indefinite Leave to Remain application to complete the route.
We were £4,000 short on income and had no idea savings could close the gap. Ozmark worked out the exact figure we needed and the visa was approved first time.
Our first application was refused over "insufficient relationship evidence." They rebuilt our entire evidence portfolio for the appeal — approved within weeks.
The extension stage caught us off guard — a higher English level, fresh financial evidence. They managed the whole FLR(M) application while we focused on our daughter.
Before You Ask
The Home Office wants to see an ongoing, committed relationship intended to be permanent — not just a marriage certificate. Evidence typically includes shared finances, cohabitation records, communication history, and visits, especially if you've spent time apart due to visa restrictions.
The sponsor's income is what counts, though if the applicant is already in the UK lawfully with permission to work, their income can be added. The £29,000 figure applies regardless of whether children are included in the application.
Yes. If income falls short, savings above £16,000 can be converted at a set multiple to cover the gap, or sufficient savings alone can meet the full requirement. We calculate the exact figure your case needs.
You need CEFR level A1 for your first application, A2 for your extension after roughly 2.5 years, and B1 for settlement. Passing at a higher level early can let you reuse the same certificate at later stages.
You may still have options — for example, if refusal would breach your right to family life under human rights law, or if a qualifying child would be seriously affected. These routes are more complex and are assessed case by case.
